Views of Kyneton
In June 1866, Frederick K Cornell and Henry Glenny, photographers who operated the Dublin and Melbourne Portrait Gallery, were commissioned by the Kyneton Shire Council to take twenty-one views of Kyneton. These would later feature in the 1866 Melbourne Intercolonial Exhibition, of which Cornell and Glenny were awarded an Honourable Mention for their photographic views of Victoria. In 1867, however, the partnership was dissolved and the Kyneton branch of the Dublin and Melbourne Portrait Gallery closed. Unfortunately, only one such photograph has surfaced since 1867 but we are slowly compiling all photographic evidence of the views of Kyneton.
Each number gives a description and the location roughly matches the photograph of that area.
